Blasphemy! Heresy! Who does this man think he is, claiming to speak directly to God?! Jesus did it, Muhammad did it, the Jewish prophets did it, but none of their Gods had the sardonic wit or raw verve of Prophet Walsch's God. Neale Donald Walsch isn't claiming to be the Messiah of a new religion, just a frustrated man who sat down one day with pen in his hand and some tough questions in his heart. As he wrote his questions to God, he realized that God was answering them... directly... through Walsch's pen. Book 1 is all you need, avoid the other volumes

Conversations with God starts out as we know with God speaking through Neal Walsh. I have no doubt in Book 1, that is the case for the entire book. It appears in Book 2, half of the content is from God and the other half is from Neal. There are points throughout Book 2 where the theme and logic conflict with all that was in Book 1.
Book 2 starts out fine, lots of rehashing Book 1, then there is some new material, but then the message changes. It would be more honest if Mr Walsh were to just come out and own his words rather then try to represent they came from God. Book 2 should be called Conversations with Neal. Of course it is not fair to make a claim without backing it up, which I shall do.
The message in Book 1 is we create our own reality. Thus with others, they too are only living in the reality they have created. Abundance is good, its great, in order for one to give abundance to others you must have something to give first. Do not help others unless it is evident they are asking for help, he cites Jesus healing those who came to him rather than Jesus just healing everyone in the world. Some choose to experience sickness and healing, or not. There is no judgment, God has no judgment of if your/ my actions are good nor bad, and he has no preference of good over bad, they are just each as they are. One mistake we all make is we think there is a limited amount of wealth out there, which is false, wealth is unlimited and we need not worry that it is all taken by a few. We do not take wealth from others, the universe will deliver all the wealth you request, you/ we just need to simply request it and it shall be.
Book 2, well I guess God changed his mind? The United States throws away food while millions starve all over the world, we are not a giving nation and essentially it is our greed that is contributing to the perpetual state of famine in our country and across the globe. If only we were all more charitable as a country, we could stop this. We should then feel guilty (regardless of our current quality of life) because others are suffering elsewhere and it is our fault. He says the rich control the majority of the wealth here and call the shots which undermines women and minorities. He pushes into some one world government and essentially a redistribution of wealth message.
So, why is it now I am responsible for someone starving in Africa? According to Book 1, that is the choice of that soul, to live that life. Why should I feel guilty for that? Given we are all re-incarnated and have lived every type of life for the multiple experiences, have I not already lived that life and the purpose here is for me to live this life? And that starving person in Africa, well could they have lived the life of a King in their last life and are now experiencing a different life? Thus, it appears in Book 2 God is judging the life of the starving people as "bad" and the perceived excesses in the United States as "bad". Yet, if we have all lived different lives in all different circumstances, are we not entitled to live this life without guilt of others suffering? Book 1 says yes, Book 2 says no. If there is more than enough wealth in the universe for all of us and we do not need to take it from others, the universe will provide it, then why is it brought up in Book 2 that the rich in the US own most of the wealth at the expense of women and minorities? I thought there were no victims. I thought we created our reality. I thought coveting was not good for creating our own realities? Is it just women and minorities, not white men? Or was that not PC to say? Now God is being PC? Is God with the "99%" and against that evil 1% now? Even with reincarnation, he agreed in Book 1 we lived the life of a Prince and lived the life of a Pauper. Thus, if in the last life I were a Pauper and this life is to experience living the life of a Prince, I am now "bad" or frowned upon and a cause of the world's problems? Yet the pauper Neal points to as being a "victim" may have been a Prince in his/ her last life.
I can go on, but I will not. It looks like what happened here is Book 1 is completely legit, in my opinion. God may have given Neal some additional material, but not enough for all of the books he has written. So Neal has spread this out and mixed in his own thoughts and words. Book 2 shows this and Book 3 is almost all Neal's words, not God's. Book 3 really goes into the environment, one world government, redistribution of wealth. Its logically at odds with everything in Book 1.
You may notice that Neal W seems like an absolute idiot in these books. Asking dumb questions, needing things repeated, etc. Yet in the audio book after Book 1 there is an interview with him, he sounds quite different. Much more intelligent. Thus, his dialogue in all of the books from his side is essentially an act. What gets me here as well is how Neal is now seen as some kind of expert and he speaks to different groups, how people see his insights as gospel. How is that? He was a mouthpiece, nothing more. He simply took dictation. It would be like hiring Ben Kingsley to speak and share his wisdom, hear his words as they are gospel....because he played Gandhi. Really?
Walsh had a great thing happen to him, it filled one book and he wanted more. He WANTED more, which meant he would not receive more....in terms of conversations. Thus in his WANTING he decided to write it himself. He is not the fool he portrays himself to be in these books. If you are interested in what Neal's insights to life are, not God's, dont read book 1 and just skip on to all of the others. God just needed Book 1 for his/ her/ its message. The rest is just Neal trying to make a buck and ease his guilt.

CONCERNING ONE STAR RATEINGS:

Keep in mind it says in the book itself, the information is filtering though Walsch's "Filter" this is his beliefs. Anyone who has read channeled info before knows it is not going to be 100% accurate sense it does have to go through the filter of beliefs and is being translated through the words the medium has available in their mind. Not knowing this could invalidate the whole book, which, IMO is a mistake. Theres a lot of a value as well as a few questionable things. The pros out the cons to me and I take it for what it is. I can tell you from experience, he is not the only person to talk to his higher self, Robert Bruce had an experience like this he spoke on, lucid dreamers report talking to their higher self anytime they want in a lucid dream. It's fairly easy, you could too most likely.

Moved to tears

I could sense the love went into producing the unabridged audio version of the text. Neale collaborated with Edward Asner and Ellen Burstyn, their voice are powerful, soothing, and magnetic. I was so moved by the message of the book that I took an 8 hours drive to keep my body and mind busy so as to give my attention to listening this book. In that eight hours I cried, many a times, and I laughed, many a times. I read many a spiritual books, while I experienced similar emotions when I first connected with contents of this nature, but over the years sensitization has set in. Yet the message contained in this book gave me tears of gratitude and laughter of joy. The day after, which is today, I'm sensing what used to be conceptual knowing of who I am as spoken about by all great religions and sages has been turned into conviction. Out of gratitude and joy I'm writing this review to share my experience with you and I hope you'll experience the same joy.
